Meet...Robert Kerr, Vice President of Operations

Bob Kerr is Senior Partner of High Performance Solutions, a consulting firm that specializes in assisting manufacturing companies along the road to “World Class”.

Bob’s career started as a Tool and Die Maker, progressed through supervision and has held most management and engineering management positions through to Vice President of Manufacturing of two leading North American companies. His ‘Lean’ leadership strategies have directly resulted in the cultural changes of Canadian and US companies that enabled them to successfully implement the Pull Systems & Lean Strategies needed to enhance their global competitiveness.

With his outstanding facilitation approaches and hands-on management style, he personally led the implementation of Lean and the subsequent cultural transformation required to help make the transition sustainable.

Bob focuses on shop floor change and knows how to make “Lean manufacturing” work.  As Vice-President of Broan, he transformed the shop floor to capitalize on the benefits of Pull Systems by putting the floor under the control of the people visually and simply, and installing a winning simple system that earned his company recognition from Sears as the “Best JIT Implementation Supplier” with 100% on time delivery in the first year of operation.

Over the past 8 years Bob has been instrumental in the formation and development of consortia of manufacturing companies across Canada.  His style has brought inspiration to hundreds of North American companies who are seeking value be coming together to share best practices and help each other achieve their goals while on the road to ‘world class’.

His approaches to the application of Lean principles have included most manufacturing sectors – especially in the forming, machining, stamping, laser cutting, painting and assembly areas.  His exemplary achievements in the seafood harvesting sector have appeared in international publications.
